Redfish on Epic 888

Meet the Very Lucky Epic 888

A rod that has been causing a real stir and gaining a loyal (and slightly fanatical) following is the 888.

Our mighty 888 was designed specifically for chasing Bonefish and Redfish but is just at home wrangling large freshwater species like Carp, Pike and monster Muskie too.

Given there’s not a flat where the wind doesn’t blow we’ve given the 888 an extra powerful butt section, strong tip and fast recovery rate to help punch a line out into those skinny water breezes.

The easy casting soul and incredible strength of S2 FastGlass™
Our S2 FastGlass has a couple of quite major advantages over Carbon Fibre (graphite) particularly when it comes to Saltwater fly rods. Epic glass is extremely tough, much much tougher than carbon fibre, this means that:

1. Our FastGlass rods are very difficult to break. While carbon fibre is well known for experiencing "catastrophic failure" i'e exploding - our glass rods simply do not do this on very large loads.
Now, we're not saying that our rods are impossible to break - but under normal fishing conditions and employing reasonable technique breakages are extremely rare.

2. FastGlass is extremely impact resistant. So what? Impacts from weighted flies cause minimal structural damage to our rods. However, Clouser your carbon rod and the end result is quite a different story: On a carbon Fibre (graphite) fly rod an impact from a heavily weighted fly will result in a tiny stress fracture, that small fracture will inevitably lead to irreparable damage and most likely breakage. I.e "clouser'ing" a graphite fly rod usually ends in tears.

S2 FastGlass™ - not your papa’s fiberglass fly rod.
Epic™ blanks are made to exacting standards using a proprietary Unidirectional S2-glass composite. Unlike other fiberglass fly rods, this material features a fully unidirectional fibre layup which aligns fibres longitudinally along the blank where they are most needed. This recipe, rolled to our Epic tapers combines silky smooth casting with trophy pulling power that we call FastGlass™. The result is an incredibly strong, light and powerful fly rod with a crisp, precise response.
